Equal Loot

by flemmli97

Equal Loot changes which players receive drops from mobs and bosses, letting each eligible player collect their own loot instead of only the killer.

FabricNeoForgeServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.1 – 26.3

What it does

Equal Loot gives mobs a per-player loot system. By default only bosses, the mobs in the c:bosses tag, use it. Drops are sorted by the damage each player dealt, and a player who killed the mob is always given loot, as long as the cap on receiving players has not been reached. Players who meet the requirements receive loot until the maximum player amount is hit.

Behaviour is controlled through a configuration file, and the mod ships with a default configuration. Custom entities are set up through data-driven files placed under data/equal_loot/entity, so a datapack is needed to change how a mob behaves. Only the player who receives a drop sees the item pick up. The mod is published for Fabric and NeoForge on 26.3 and the 1.21.1 – 26.3 range, under the MIT License, and is open source. Fabric API is required on Fabric.

Key features

  1. Per-player boss loot

Bosses drop loot for each eligible player, so nobody is left out when a team takes down a mob together.

  2. Damage-based eligibility

A player qualifies by hitting the mob recently and dealing a minimum share of its health, which is set in the config.

  3. Killer always rewarded

The player who kills a mob always receives its loot, whether or not other requirements are met.

  4. Data-driven entities

Loot behaviour for each entity is defined through files under data/equal_loot/entity, for datapack authors.

Questions

Does Equal Loot need Fabric API on Fabric?

Yes. Fabric API is required for the Fabric build, and the NeoForge build has no listed dependency.

Does every player on a server need Equal Loot installed?

No. It runs on the server alone, so players need nothing extra to join.

Which mobs use the per-player system by default?

Only bosses, the mobs in the c:bosses tag, use it by default. Other mobs can be added through the data-driven entity files.
