EpicZoomer

by Nixuge

EpicZoomer, a Utility mod for Forge 1.8.9, gives players a zoom key with scroll-wheel zoom steps and smooth zoom transitions.

ForgeClient-side onlyThe UnlicenseOpen source1.8.9

What it does

Zoom is bound to a key and can be tuned with the scroll wheel, so a player moves from a close view to a wide one in steps. A smooth transition option eases between zoom levels instead of jumping. The mod is a legacy Forge mod built for the 1.8.9 game version, where it extends the zoom that Optifine provides. It is not compatible with Optifine but remains usable without it. Environment: client-side only, so only the client needs it and servers run without it. The code is open source under The Unlicense.

Key features

  1. Scroll wheel zoom

Holding the zoom key and scrolling the wheel steps the view closer or further away.

  2. Smooth zoom

An optional smooth transition eases the camera between zoom levels rather than switching instantly.

  3. Extended zoom controls

The zoom goes beyond the basic zoom offered by Optifine, with more ways to adjust the field of view.

Questions

Does EpicZoomer work with Optifine installed?

No. The mod is incompatible with Optifine, although it still runs on its own on Forge 1.8.9.

Does EpicZoomer need to be installed on the server?

No. It is installed on the player's side alone, so servers need nothing.
