Epic Engine

by cjiangqiu

Epic Engine lets modpack makers replace the title logo, window icon and window title bar of the game, and customize the main menu and loading screen.

ForgeClient and serverCustom license1.20.1

What it does

Using the mod, a modpack author can swap the game title logo on the main menu for a custom image and change the text shown in the window's title bar. The same set of options lets the window icon, which appears in the task bar, be replaced with a chosen picture, so a pack keeps its own identity from the first screen.

The mod was developed as part of a personal modpack that gathered most of the customization features the author needed. It is a Forge mod for 1.20.1 only, and it runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. It works alongside Fretux's Skill Engine and Epic`s Origins when those are in the same pack, and it is released under a custom license. Source code and an issue tracker are public.

Use cases

Branding a modpack

A pack author can give the title screen, window and loading screen the look of a single project.

Who it’s for: Modpack authors who want the main menu, window and loading screen to show their own artwork and text. Players may also use it on a server that runs a custom pack.

How it compares

Full comparison

WebKit is a client-side only Forge mod for 1.20.1 under the MIT License and is not open source. Simple Screens is client-side only and built for 1.16.5, so it does not cover the same version. Epic Engine is a client and server mod for 1.20.1 only, so both sides need it.
