Enchantment Rarities

by r0mb0

Enchantment Rarities gives each enchantment name in the tooltip a color and symbol that marks its rarity tier, so an item's valuable enchantments can be spotted at a glance.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.7 – 1.21.10

What it does

Each enchantment name is drawn in a color that matches its tier: white for common, green for uncommon, purple for rare, gold for legendary, and red for curses. A distinct symbol is added next to the name for each tier, so the rarity can be read even when colors are hard to tell apart. The changes apply only to how names appear on screen.

The mod is client-side only, so a player can install it without the server having it, and the server runs without any change. It is built on Fabric and needs Fabric API. Files exist for 1.21.7, 1.21.8, 1.21.9 and 1.21.10, and the latest Fabric build, 1.1.0 for 1.21.10, was published on 2025-10-21. The code is open source under the MIT License.

The rarity mapping covers almost all vanilla enchantments, from Sharpness II to Swift Sneak III, and the author notes that mace enchantments are planned for a later release. Enchantment Rarities is first published on 2025-07-21.

Key features

  1. Color-coded enchantment names

Each enchantment name takes the color of its tier, so common and legendary enchantments can be told apart in an item's tooltip.

  2. Rarity symbols

A separate symbol for each tier appears beside the enchantment name, giving a second cue besides color.

  3. Vanilla enchantment mapping

Almost every vanilla enchantment is assigned a tier, including Efficiency IV and Curse Binding.

  4. No server-side change

The display changes happen only on the player's screen, so servers keep running unmodified.

Use cases

Reviewing loot

A player who gets a chest of enchanted gear can check the tooltips for rare and legendary enchantments without reading every name.

Spotting curses

Curse enchantments appear in red with their own symbol, so harmful enchantments stand out on an item.

Who it’s for: Players who sort through enchanted gear and want the tier of each enchantment shown on screen. Anyone who joins a server with the mod installed only needs it on their own client.
