Double Hit Damage
by 3geE
Double Hit Damage is a server-side datapack that doubles the hit damage dealt by mobs and by players, applied through the world's datapacks folder.
What it does
Once the datapack is loaded, every melee and projectile hit from a mob or a player deals twice the damage it would in vanilla. The change is limited to hit damage, so other damage sources such as falling, fire or potions keep their normal values. Installation means placing the datapack in the world's datapacks folder, joining the world and running the reload command once.
The mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and as a Data pack for server platforms, across 17 release versions, 1.21 – 26.3. Only the server must run the datapack, while players who join can skip installing anything. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source. Files for 26.3 were last updated on 2025-08-20, after a first release on 2025-07-26.
Key features
Doubled mob hit damage
Hits dealt by mobs to players are doubled, which raises the difficulty of fights without changing mob health.
Doubled player hit damage
Hits dealt by players to mobs are doubled as well, so combat with the same weapons ends faster.
Datapack installation
The mod is installed by placing the datapack in the world's datapacks folder and running the reload command after joining.
Coordinates on screen
Coordinates are shown at the bottom of the screen while moving, a detail that comes from the datapack setup and is independent of the damage change.

Use cases
Harder survival fights
Players who find vanilla combat too lenient can run the datapack to make every hit from mobs and players count twice as much.
Who it’s for: Server owners who want a single datapack to change combat balance on a Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt server, and players of single-player worlds who prefer a harder fight.
How it compares
Double Jump is released under the MIT License and runs on the same four loaders for 1.20 – 1.21.5; is needed on the server, with the client optional. It changes movement rather than damage. Armor Damage Limit is open source under the MIT License and server-side only, for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 1.19.2 – 1.21.4, and it limits armor damage instead of doubling hits. Better Multishot is not open source and is needed on the server, with the client optional; it changes crossbow shots rather than hit values.
