by Dawn of Time Project

Dawn of Time: Beyond Vanilla gives builders hundreds of new block variants for vanilla materials, from wood, stone and deepslate to nether and mineral blocks.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

Each new block uses an existing vanilla material and adds a shape or finish that the base game does not include. Stone, cobblestone, sandstone, red sandstone, deepslate, bricks, mud bricks and packed mud receive cut, polished, cracked, mossy and tiled forms. Concrete and terracotta come in 16 colors.

The nether side includes netherrack, nether bricks, cracked and red nether bricks, nylium, soul sand and soul soil. Mineral materials such as coal, iron, gold, lapis, diamond and netherite get their own variants. The blocks share one inventory system and are sorted into four categories with custom tabs and subtabs, so a player finds a given block in the same place each time.

The mod is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and is installed on the client and the server. It is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1. Ancient Structures: Chinese requires it.

Key features

  1. Wood and stone variants

Wood types, stone, cobblestone and deepslate each get several block shapes and finishes, including cut, polished and cracked forms.

  2. Nether and mineral materials

Nether bricks, nylium, soul soil and ore-based materials such as diamond and netherite are available as new block variants.

  3. Sorted creative tabs

The blocks sit in four categories with custom tabs and subtabs, which makes the palette easier to browse.

  4. Colored blocks

Concrete and terracotta are available in 16 colors, adding more options for paint and decoration.
