Dictionary Ores
by Grainen
Dictionary Ores is a Forge world generation mod that adds ore blocks to the game, with ore types chosen through the OreDictionary.
What it does
Ores added by the mod are registered through the OreDictionary, so other mods that read ore tags can recognize them. The mod also adds further blocks beyond ores, including Glowstone Ore, Crystal Cluster, Ruby Ore and Calamitanium Ore. Individual features can be turned off in the config file, letting a server owner keep only the ores wanted in a world.
Installation needs only Forge for 1.12.2, and the server and every player need the mod because it runs on client and server. Files are published for Forge, and the latest file is 2.3 for 1.12.2, dated 2023-06-11. The project is open source under the MIT License, and public links are available for the source code and a wiki.
Key features
OreDictionary registration
Ores are registered with the OreDictionary, so mods that match ores by dictionary name can pick them up.
Glowstone Ore
A glowstone-based ore block that generates in the world alongside the other added ores.
Crystal Cluster
A crystal cluster block adds a decorative and resource feature to underground generation.
Ruby Ore and Calamitanium Ore
Ruby Ore and Calamitanium Ore are two more ore blocks the mod adds to world generation.
Config toggles
Each feature can be disabled in the config file, so a world can keep only the parts it needs.

Use cases
Ore tags for other mods
Modpack builders can rely on OreDictionary names so that recipes and machines from other mods accept the added ores.
Trimming the ore set
Server owners can switch off individual ores in the config to keep world generation close to a chosen list.
Who it’s for: Modpack authors and server owners working on Minecraft 1.12.2 who want extra ore blocks that other Forge mods can recognize through the OreDictionary.
How it compares
Super Simple Nether Ores targets Forge for 1.20.1, is client and server, and is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. LargeOreNodesRemove is also client and server and is open source under the MIT License, but it is published for 1.19.2 and changes ore nodes rather than adding ore blocks. Mine Tools and Blocks MC is for Forge on 1.12.2 like this mod, but only a client or server needs it, and it is not open source.
