Defaulted Drops is a Fabric and Quilt library that makes blocks with loot tables drop themselves when a mod opts in.

What it does

Blocks added by a mod drop their own item form when broken, instead of their loot tables taking effect. Only mods that opt in through their fabric.mod.json are affected, so other blocks keep their normal drops. The mechanism works on a server and in single-player worlds, since it runs on the server side alone. Fabric API is required. Builds cover 1.18.1 – 26.3, and the latest file for 26.3 is dated 2026-09-15. The project is open source under the MIT License, so anyone may adapt the code.

What the author says

If a mod opts in (via fabric.mod.json), blocks from that mod that don't have loot tables will drop the item form of that block. This mod is only for Fabric (works on Quilt, too!) and I won't be porting it to Forge. The license is MIT, however, so anyone else is free to port it.
