Deep Sea
by Riser876
Deep Sea changes how boats behave in ocean biomes, so boats placed there can be discarded or damaged on a configurable schedule.
What it does
Every loaded boat is checked on a fixed interval, 100 ticks by default, which is about 5 seconds. A boat found inside a configured ocean biome is either discarded without dropping its item or takes damage, and the amount applied is also set in the config. A boat that breaks drops its item, and a sound effect can play when a boat is damaged or destroyed, with that behavior configurable as well.
The biomes and boats affected are chosen through datapack tags. The deepsea:ocean tag lists the biomes, and the deepsea:boat tag lists the boats, and both can be extended by adding or removing entries in a datapack tag file. Biome lookups are cached to reduce repeated work, with the cache size and cache time both adjustable.
Deep Sea runs on the server alone, so players join without installing it. It requires Fabric API, is published for Fabric and NeoForge across 17 release versions 1.21 – 26.3, and is open source under the MIT License. Its source code and issue tracker are public.
Key features
Configurable ocean boat behavior
Boats inside configured ocean biomes can be discarded or damaged, with the check interval and damage amount set in the config.
Datapack tag control
The affected biomes and boats are listed in the deepsea:ocean and deepsea:boat tags, so they can be changed with a datapack.
Biome lookup caching
Biome results are cached, with cache size and cache time both configurable, so repeated checks do less work.
Damage sound effects
An optional sound plays when a boat is damaged or destroyed, and the setting can be turned off in the config.
