DECOBEACONS

by 19phoboss98

DecoBeacons adds decorative beacon blocks whose light beams can be recolored, redirected and dampened with dye, sand and redstone.

FabricForgeClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.18.2 – 1.20.1

What it does

Each DecoBeacon emits a colored light beam that can be set to any of the sixteen dye colors. Players change the color by right-clicking the beacon with a dye, which is consumed, or cycle through the colors with an empty hand, forward or in reverse when shifted. The block looks like a vanilla beacon, so it fits into builds that already use one.

A redstone signal can switch a beacon on or off, and a toggle mode with a redstone torch inverts that behavior. Beams pass through other DecoBeacons and tint themselves with their colors. A sand block applied to a beacon makes its surface abrasive and stops a beam from passing through it, while the ghost variant lets light beams and players pass through blocks, except opaque beacons. The ghost variant also stops affecting the color of beams that cross it.

DecoBeacons runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it, and Fabric API is required on Fabric. Its source code is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and files target 1.18.2 – 1.20.1 on Fabric and Forge.

Key features

  1. Sixteen beam colors

Beacons take any of the sixteen dye colors, set by dye, cycling or a book-and-quill setting list.

  2. Redstone control

A redstone signal activates a beacon, and a torch-based toggle switches between active-high and active-low mode.

  3. Ghost beacon variant

Ghost beacons let light beams and players pass through blocks, except opaque beacons, and they do not collide with walkers.

  4. Sand-based abrasion

Applying sand to a beacon makes its surface abrasive so that a beam passing through it is stopped.

  5. Settings by book and quill

Beacon settings can be written in a book and quill and applied by right-clicking, with a check that reports any wrong entry.
