by GenMode

With Data API installed on a server, datapacks can add custom durability, enchantments, mob behavior, music discs and smelting results to vanilla items and entities.

What it does

Data API is a set of tools for building datapacks. It backports several features into the game, including custom durability, custom enchantments, custom music discs and custom smelting, and it lets datapack authors attach custom NBT tags to items for right-click, attack and drop detection. Entities can also be given a glowing effect, and the mod extends which block types can be targeted as entities.

Fabric API must be installed alongside it, because it is listed as a required dependency on every loader. Three other mods in the catalog require Data API: Vesture, [CLOSED] - Reader and Caveat. The environment is server required with the client optional, so a server running the mod is enough for players to benefit, and joining players do not need to install it. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and the mod is released under the MIT License without being open source.

Key features

  1. Custom durability

Items can be given a durability value through datapacks, backported for use in the game.

  2. Custom enchantments

Enchantments can be defined from datapacks, with the backported system available to datapack authors.

  3. Custom NBT item tags

More than 15 custom NBT tags detect right-clicks, attacks, drops and other item interactions.

  4. Custom mob and smelting support

Datapacks can define custom mobs and custom smelting results for use in the world.

  5. Glowing entities

Entities can be made to glow, which helps datapack creators mark objects for players.
