DarkWooly
DarkWooly changes what sheep drop when a player kills them with a Diamond Sword, giving wool, terracotta and concrete in colors that vanilla sheep do not produce.
What it does
Killing a vanilla sheep normally yields wool matching the sheep's color. With the Diamond Sword in hand, the kill can instead produce wool in a different color, so players who only see white sheep in their world can collect other wool types. The same weapon also changes the outcome of a sheep killed by fire or by water: fire gives colored terracotta, and water gives colored concrete. The drops come from a chance roll, so a sword kill does not always produce a different color.
DarkWooly is server-side only, so the server needs it and players join without installing it. It requires Fabric API, and the mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. Files exist for 1.20.1, 1.20.2, 1.20.3, 1.20.4, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2, and the latest builds target 26.2 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with the Quilt build for 1.20.1. The code is not open source; the mod is released under All rights reserved. Its author also made DarkRPG, and DarkWooly is presented as an addition to the vanilla experience, with quest and RPG gameplay sitting alongside it in that line of mods.
Key features
Colored wool from sheep
Sheep killed with a Diamond Sword can drop wool in colors other than the sheep's own color.
Colored terracotta from fire
A sheep killed by fire with a Diamond Sword can drop terracotta in a different color.
Colored concrete from water
A sheep killed in water with a Diamond Sword can drop concrete in a different color.
Chance-based drops
Colored results come from a chance roll, so vanilla drops still occur on many kills.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who want more colors from sheep without changing the client, and server owners who prefer a change that only the server has to run.
How it compares
Random Sheep Colours is also server-side only and supports 1.16.5 – 26.3 on all four loaders, with All rights reserved as its license, so it covers a wider version range than DarkWooly. Sheep Armor is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only and requires both client and server, so it is a different kind of change. Sheep don't drop wool is server required with client optional and released under the MIT License, with files for 1.21.9 – 26.3.
