Customizable Death Ban
by TStar
Customizable Death Ban lets a server owner set how long a player stays banned after dying, with a revive item that lifts the ban early.
What it does
Ban length, the item that revives a banned player, and the message settings are all configurable. Players see their current ban duration and how to use the revive item. A revive GUI opens for operators only, where names can be added to or removed from the revive list. The mod depends on BanHammer for the ban system and on Fabric API, and it runs on Fabric.
Death messages can be limited to players within a set radius of the dying player instead of the whole server, and the mod sends those messages itself while toggling vanilla's showDeathMessages game rule. A wither-spawn sound can be configured to play for nearby players within a radius. Debug logging for HardcoreBan can be switched off, and a command reports the current value of each setting. The author notes that new drops may cause issues and that some features received limited server testing.
Builds cover 1.21.11 – 26.2 for Fabric, with 2.1.0 for 26.2 as the latest file, and the code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Configurable ban duration
A tempban duration is set on the server and applied each time a player dies, with values such as 3d or 12h30m.
Revive item
A configurable item recipe, such as a diamond block, redstone block, netherite ingot and totem of undying, revives a banned player.
Operator revive GUI
A GUI lists the revive entries and lets operators add or remove names from the revive list.
Radius-based death messages
Death messages reach only players within a set radius of the dying player, and the wither-spawn sound uses the same kind of radius.
