CustomGLTF
by Maiky_hda
CustomGLTF is a Fabric library that lets other mods load, animate, attach and render standard glTF and GLB 3D models on the client.
What it does
The library reads glTF files in the standard .gltf and .glb forms, including meshes, textures and bones, and draws them in game. Its skeletal animation system includes node animation, a built-in animation controller with crossfading and looping, and a state machine. Items, weapons, particles and other models can be attached to specific animated bones through a socket system, and bone rotations and translations can be set from code for turret aiming, vehicle steering or head tracking. Exact 3D bounding boxes can be calculated from model geometry for hitboxes.
Rendering uses GPU-accelerated skinning with several OpenGL profiles (GL43, GL40, GL33, GL30) and a CPU fallback. Shader packs such as Iris and OptiFine are supported, but the mod warns in chat, in English and German, when shaders are active, and models render properly only with shaders disabled. The mod is client-side only, so servers do not need it, and it runs on Fabric for Minecraft 1.20.1. The code is released under the MIT License and is open source. Files target 1.20.1 – 1.20.6, and the latest file is 1.2 for 1.20.1. The mod is required by Mutated Mobs.
Key features
glTF and GLB loading
Standard .gltf and .glb models are loaded with their meshes, textures and bones intact.
Skeletal animation
Node animation, crossfading, looping and a state machine are built in, driven by an animation controller.
Bone sockets
Items, weapons, particles and other models can be attached to specific animated bones.
Procedural bone overrides
Bone rotations and translations can be set from code, for turret aiming, vehicle steering or head tracking.
Dynamic bounding boxes
Exact 3D bounding boxes are calculated from model geometry for use as hitboxes.
GPU skinning
Skinning runs on the GPU through several OpenGL profiles, with a CPU fallback when none is available.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
