Dash's Custom Music Discs Mod

by Dash_Ketch Coding

Dash's Custom Music Discs adds blank music discs that a player can burn with MP3 files and then play in a jukebox like vanilla records.

NeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.21.1

What it does

A player holds a blank music disc in the off-hand and right-clicks with the Disc Burner in the main hand to open the upload screen. After selecting an MP3 file and pressing Burn, a message confirms the disc is ready. Burning works through a graphical screen, so no commands are needed, and the disc can then be inserted into a jukebox.

The mod streams audio through an isolated JLayer engine instead of packing sounds into a resource pack, so large audio files do not inflate the game's assets. Sound fades with distance: it gets quieter as a player walks away and stops completely at 64 blocks. Breaking a jukebox, or a hopper pulling the disc out, ejects the record and stops the audio at once.

The mod runs on NeoForge for 1.21.1 only and works on the client and the server, so both sides need it. The code is not open source, and the mod is released under All rights reserved. Public links exist for the source code, and the latest file is 1.0.6 for 1.21.1, published on 2026-06-05.

Key features

  1. MP3 disc burning

Standard MP3 files can be burned onto blank discs through a dedicated screen, and the disc plays like a vanilla record.

  2. Dynamic audio streaming

Tracks are streamed on demand, which keeps large audio collections out of the resource pack.

  3. Proximity-based sound

Volume drops with distance from the jukebox and fades to silence at 64 blocks.

  4. Jukebox handling

Breaking the jukebox or pulling the disc with a hopper stops playback immediately.

Use cases

Custom soundtracks for a base

Players can give a jukebox their own music, with a disc per track, for a build or a server hub.

Who it’s for: Players who want their own tracks in a jukebox, and server owners who want to offer custom music without a large resource pack.
