Create: Maintenance
by Xodus4
Create: Maintenance adds a maintenance mechanic to Create, so machines, basins, steam engines and other parts degrade with use and must be maintained.
What it does
Once a block degrades, it needs upkeep to keep working. The mod presents players with a logistics challenge: they have to supply the materials and handle the upkeep needed to keep production running, which adds an incentive to produce capital such as andesite alloy or brass. Only blocks placed after the mod was installed take part in the degradation system, and degrading blocks cannot be moved by regular Create contraptions.
The mod is built for Create and its addons, and it is listed as compatible with Sable. Blocks that have already been assembled in a sublevel keep working without degrading. The degradation behaviour can be configured, so pack makers can give any machine or block its own stats. Repair is not part of the current release and is planned for a later update. Client and server both need the mod, and it is published for Forge and NeoForge.
Key features
Degrading machines
Machines, basins, steam engines and other Create parts wear down over time and must be maintained to keep working.
Configurable stats
Degradation behaviour can be added to any machine or block with custom values, which suits modpack makers.
Sable compatibility
The mod is listed as compatible with Sable, and assembled blocks in a sublevel do not degrade.
Logistics pressure
Upkeep demands materials and planning, pushing players to produce andesite alloy and brass in larger quantities.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Modpack progression
Pack makers can add upkeep to Create machinery so that production becomes a logistics challenge rather than a fixed setup.
Who it’s for: Players and modpack makers who use Create and want maintenance pressure on its machinery. The mod is in an indev state for 1.21.1, so backing up the world before testing is advised.
