Cobblemon: Cosmetic Forms

by Lvnatic

Cobblemon: Cosmetic Forms lets a player show Mega and Gigantamax looks on a Pokémon without changing its real form, through cosmetic item slots.

FabricNeoForgeServer required, client optionalCustom license1.21.1

What it does

The mod adds cosmetic equipment slots for Mega Stones and Max Soup, so a Pokémon can wear a Mega or Gigantamax appearance while its actual battle form stays the same. Equipped items change only the model shown on screen. A Pokémon keeps whatever cosmetic form it was given, and the cosmetic Mega keeps looking like a Mega. Gimmicks such as Mega evolution or Dynamax remain usable alongside the cosmetic look, since nothing about the battle mechanics is altered.

Several specific items are covered, including the Slowbrogonite for Galarian Slowbro, Crystalline Steelixite for Crystal Steelix, Shadow Mewtwonite X and Y, and the raw Mega Stone for Illusionary Rayquaza. Clone starters such as Snowman Snorlax and Sandy and Lana's Eevee can take their respective Max Soup looks. Rayquaza needs the raw Mega Stone form and Cosmetic Gmax v1.4 or newer, and Urshifu needs the sweet Max Soup item.

The mod runs on Fabric and NeoForge for 1.21.1 only. It is also available as a data pack for server platforms. The server must run it and players may add it for the look. It is released under a custom license, and the source code is public, but the mod is not open source.

Key features

  1. Cosmetic Mega slot

Mega Stones can be equipped in a cosmetic slot, showing a Mega look without changing the Pokémon's form.

  2. Cosmetic Gigantamax slot

Max Soup can be equipped to a gmax-able Pokémon's cosmetic slot, displaying a Gigantamax model on demand.

  3. Species-specific stones

Each supported species has its own Mega Stone or Max Soup item, such as Slowbrogonite or Shadow Mewtwonite X and Y.

  4. Unchanged gameplay

The cosmetic look is purely visual, so other gimmicks such as battle Mega evolution and Dynamax keep working.

Catch Indicator is a client-side only addon for Fabric and NeoForge, so only the client needs it. What the author says

Lots of people always wanted permanent megas and gmax forms and well, that would be incredibly unbalanced - so I talked to some the supporters and what y'all seem to want is to look at the models instead. Well the compromise I made will allow you to do just that! With Cosmetic Forms you can equip a Pokémons Mega…
