Catch Indicator [Cobblemon Addon]

by LevelsFR

Catch Indicator shows in each Cobblemon nameplate whether a Pokémon is unseen, seen or already caught, so the Pokédex stays closed while exploring.

FabricNeoForgeClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.21.1

What it does

Nameplates display the discovery state of each species: unknown Pokémon appear as ??? until their names can be revealed, while seen and caught species are marked. The indicator uses a Poké Ball icon whose style can be chosen from six designs.

Optional markers add the Shiny icon, supported Boss and Special traits, Cobblemon's native XS to XL size categories once a species is discovered, and male and female symbols beside names. Each of these can be switched on or off, and discovery notifications can be enabled or left out for a minimal display.

The mod requires Cobblemon and runs on Fabric and NeoForge. Settings are edited through Cloth Config. Files are published for 1.21.1, and the mod is client-side only, so a dedicated server does not need it. The code is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Discovery state in nameplates

Each nameplate marks a Pokémon as unknown, seen or caught without opening the Pokédex.

  2. Unknown species as ???

Undiscovered species show ??? in place of their names, and the names can be revealed before discovery if preferred.

  3. Six Poké Ball icon styles

The caught marker can take one of six Poké Ball designs, chosen in the settings.

  4. Shiny and trait markers

A dedicated Shiny icon and optional Boss and Special markers appear alongside Pokémon names.

  5. Form-aware tracking

Species and alternate-form discoveries are read from Cobblemon's Pokédex data.

Questions

Does Catch Indicator need to be installed on the server?

No. The mod is client-side only, and a dedicated server does not need it. Each player installs it on their own client.

What does Catch Indicator require besides Cobblemon?

Cloth Config is required on both loaders, and the settings are edited through it. It requires Cobblemon.

Can the indicator show Pokémon names before they are caught?

Yes. Undiscovered species show ??? by default, and the option to reveal their names before discovery can be set in the configuration.
