Consumable Optimizer
by Walksy
With Consumable Optimizer installed, eating food finishes on the exact tick it should on the client, without waiting for a server reply.
What it does
By default the game holds a player in the eating animation until the server answers, which is barely visible on a low-latency connection but grows noticeable on high ping. The mod moves that eating process onto the client so an item is consumed without the delay, while the server keeps responsibility for the outcome of each meal.
High latency can also cause a desync that makes the server restart the eating process for the player. The mod cancels those unneeded recalls from the server, which removes a further slowdown and an uneven feel when consuming items. It is a client-side only mod, so only the client needs it and servers run without it.
Installation requires WalksyLib, and the mod is built for Fabric across 19 release versions, 1.20.5 – 26.3. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the latest Fabric file, 2.2.3+26.3, is for 26.3 and was published on 2026-10-10. Snapshot builds are not part of the release list.
Key features
Instant food completion
Food and other consumable items finish on the tick they should, with no wait in the eating animation.
Server-side outcomes
The server keeps applying the results of each meal, so healing and buffs from food are still granted by the server.
Cancelled desync recalls
Unneeded restart requests from the server are cancelled when high ping would otherwise force eating to begin again.
Player opt-out
Server owners can switch the optimization off for their players through the WalksyLibControl plugin.

Use cases
Playing on high-ping servers
Players whose connection adds noticeable latency get eating that does not stall in the animation while waiting for a reply.
Anti-cheat compatible servers
Server owners running anti-cheats such as Grim or Vulkan are unlikely to see flags from the mod, though the server can still opt players out.
Who it’s for: Players on Fabric who play on servers with noticeable latency, and server owners who want client-side eating without it flagging their anti-cheat.
How it compares
Projectile Optimizer is client-side only, open source under the MIT License, and covers 1.21.4 – 1.21.11, so it targets a different set of versions and a different mechanic. Eslium Backport is also client-side only and open source, under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, with a much wider range of 1.16.5 – 1.21.11. Crossbow & Bow Optimizer is client-side only and under the Apache License 2.0, but it is not open source and covers 1.20.5 – 26.2.

What the author says
This mod enforces more client-sided processing when handling consumable items (any food item). By default, Minecraft requires the user to wait for a server response before consuming an item. While this delay is hardly noticeable on low ping, it becomes much more noticable on high ping and causes players to be stuck…
