Construction Wand Legacy

by xinyihl

Construction Wand Legacy brings the building wand of the Construction Wand line to Minecraft 1.12.2 as a Forge mod, with four wand types and four cores.

ForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.12.2

What it does

Wands come in four tiers, Stone, Iron, Diamond and Infinity, and each one can be fitted with a core that changes how it works. The Angel core allows placement in mid-air, the Destruction core removes blocks, and the AE and ProjectE cores draw on their networks. Installing a core changes the appearance of the wand through a core overlay model.

The wand has a Construction mode that places blocks in patterns, an Angel mode for mid-air placement, and a Destruction mode. With Baubles installed, container items in its equipped slots supply building blocks. With ProjectE installed, the building wand can consume EMC to place blocks. Installation covers the server and each player's game. It is released under the MIT License and the source code is public.

Key features

  1. Four wand tiers

Wands are sold as Stone, Iron, Diamond and Infinity, each with its own building capacity.

  2. Four interchangeable cores

Cores slot into a wand to add behaviour such as mid-air placement, destruction or energy-network use.

  3. Construction and Destruction modes

Construction places blocks in a chosen pattern, while Destruction clears blocks in the same way.

  4. Baubles and ProjectE support

Baubles slots can hold the building blocks a wand uses, and a wand can draw EMC from ProjectE when placing blocks.

How it compares

Full comparison

Building Wands is a separate mod on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.16.5 – 26.2, licensed under the Apache License 2.0 and open source. Construction Wand Legacy covers only 1.12.2 on Forge. Baubley Elytra is a Forge mod for 1.12.2 under a custom license and is not open source, so it does not supply the same building wand features. Torojima's Buildhelper targets 1.19 – 1.19.2 on Forge under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only.

Questions

Which loader does Construction Wand Legacy need?

The mod is published only for Forge, and its files target 1.12.2. It is not available for Fabric or NeoForge.

Does Construction Wand Legacy have to be installed on the server?

Yes. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.

Are Baubles and ProjectE required?

Neither is required. Baubles adds equipped-slot building supply and ProjectE adds EMC-based placement, and both features are optional.
