Colossal Reactors

by Unfamily

Colossal Reactors adds large multiblock nuclear reactors that generate RF power, with a controller screen, fuel and coolant ports, and heating coils for the Melter.

NeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.1 – 26.1.2

What it does

A reactor is built as a hollow box of reactor casing and reactor glass, with reactor rods placed inside to hold fuel and coolant. The reactor controller reports whether the structure is valid, how much power it produces, and its stability and energy output, and it can reboot the multiblock. Rod insertion sets how far the rods go in: deeper insertion yields more power but also more heat, so coolant has to balance it to avoid overheating.

Fuel and coolant enter through a resource port, which also extracts spent coolant and nuclear waste. A power port sends the generated RF out through cables, and an optional redstone port lets a redstone signal turn the reactor off. Resource heating coils and energy heating coils sit on the front face of the reactor, consuming fluids, items or RF to heat the Melter through pipes. A Reactor Builder can automate construction and supply the Melter, items, fluids and heating coils.

Colossal Reactors is open source under the MIT License and is published for NeoForge only, with files for 1.21.1 and 26.1.2. Both Fusion (Connected Textures) and Iskandert's Library are required, and GuideME is optional. Only the server needs the mod to run the reactor logic, while players also install it to see the controller and ports.

Key features

  1. Multiblock reactor

The reactor is assembled from casing and glass around a set of rods that hold fuel and coolant.

  2. Controller screen

The controller shows whether the reactor is valid, along with its power output, stability and energy output.

  3. Rod control

A rod controller sets how far the rods are inserted, trading more power against more heat.

  4. Heating coils and Melter

Resource and energy heating coils feed heat through pipes into the Melter, using fluids, items or RF.

Questions

Does Colossal Reactors need Fusion (Connected Textures)?

Yes. Fusion (Connected Textures) is a required dependency and must be installed next to Colossal Reactors.

Which loader does Colossal Reactors use?

Colossal Reactors is published for NeoForge only, with files for 1.21.1 and 26.1.2.

Does the server need Colossal Reactors?

Yes. Players and the server both run the mod, so installing it on the server alone is not enough for the controller and ports to appear on a client.
