CobbleRegions

by kiriheu

CobbleRegions is a server-side Cobblemon sidemod that caps Pokémon levels by region, with per-player progression.

FabricNeoForgeServer-side onlyMIT License1.21.1 – 1.21.11

What it does

Each Minecraft world or dimension is assigned a region, and each region has its own ordered cap track. A player's current cap is the highest cap they have reached in that region's track. Players can travel freely between regions, but a Pokémon never levels past the cap reached in the region where it originated.

Every Pokémon keeps a persistent origin region, set automatically when it is captured, hatched or received. Experience gain is blocked for a Pokémon that would exceed its origin region's cap, even when another region has a higher cap. Region caps can be configured as unlimited. Progress control is available to other mods through the RegionProgressApi class.

CobbleRegions runs on the server only, so players need nothing installed. It requires Cobblemon and is published for Fabric and NeoForge, with files for 1.21.1 – 1.21.11 under the MIT License. The code is not open source.

Key features

  1. Region-based level caps

Each region defines a strictly increasing list of caps, and each cap must exist in that list.

  2. Battle enforcement

Over-cap Pokémon are removed from a player's roster at battle start, and a battle is canceled if too few non-fainted Pokémon remain.

  3. Prerequisite regions

A region can require another region to be completed before players can gain experience in it.

  4. Admin screens and commands

An admin list opens region editing, where dimensions, caps, messages and player progress are managed; command access uses a permission node that defaults to level 2.

  5. Formatted messages

Battle and progress messages support MiniMessage formatting with placeholders for cap, region, prerequisite and Pokémon.
