Cobbled Dirt
by aurum
Cobbled Dirt is a server-side datapack that lets players craft dirt out of cobblestone, so soil for farms and builds no longer depends on finding it.
What it does
Cobbled Dirt is a datapack that adds a crafting recipe turning cobblestone into dirt. Players who run short of soil for a farm, a terraced build or a landscaping project can make it from a common stone they already collect. Because the change is a recipe, it needs no new blocks and no client-side code, and it fits survival worlds where dirt is scarce.
The mod is installed by placing its file in the datapacks folder inside the Minecraft world save, so it applies to that single world. It works alongside other datapacks without conflicts, and it carries a dependency on additional mods, which must be installed as well. Only the server has to run it for the recipe to work, so a server owner decides whether players need it locally.
Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and the datapack is also listed for data packs. Builds cover 1.13 – 26.3, with 51 release versions, and the latest file targets 1.21.1 and was released on 2025-03-26. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.
