CliffTree

by Penumbra

CliffTree is a world generation datapack that adds new Overworld biomes, cave biomes and reworked terrain while keeping the look of vanilla.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalCreative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.01.20 – 26.2

What it does

Brand new biomes such as the Oasis and the Tundra are added, and familiar ones such as the Snowy Old Growth Taiga get variants. Many vanilla biomes are reworked with better distribution, terracotta on Savanna Plateaus, fallen logs in forests, more stone on cliff sides and wide beaches. Nearly every biome gets new water colors, while deeper oceans, underwater rock and spire formations and reshaped river floors give sand, clay and gravel a gradual transition in place of scattered disks.

Surface biomes no longer reach underground. Separate cave biomes appear instead, including Frozen Caves, Warm Caves and a deep scorching cave layer with magma. Foliage can be planted on sand and snow, some trees such as Birch and small Jungle trees have new shapes, and saplings follow custom growth rules, so rare tree types appear only on certain blocks. Lithostitched and Vanilla Backport are required dependencies. The mod is server required and client optional, and its license is Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0, not open source. Builds cover 1.20 – 26.2, with snapshot builds published.

Key features

  1. New Overworld biomes

Shrublands, Glacier Valleys, Oases and Tundras are added alongside variants of existing vanilla biomes.

  2. Distinct cave biomes

Frozen Caves, Warm Caves and a deep magma cave layer replace the surface biome that vanilla extends down into caves.

  3. Reworked vanilla biomes

Savanna Plateaus, forests, cliffs and beaches gain new blocks, fallen logs and wider shorelines.

  4. Custom tree growth

Saplings grow only on specific ground, and rare tree types such as Swamp Oaks and jungle bushes appear on certain blocks.

  5. Underwater terrain

Deeper oceans, underwater rock formations and smoother river floor gradients change how water areas look.
