ClientPlaysound

by Anthony4933Meow

ClientPlaysound lets a player play, stop and pitch sounds from chat commands, with a chat trigger for sounds tied to keywords.

FabricClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.21.11 – 26.2

What it does

The mod plays sounds on the client only, so a player hears them without any server involvement. Sounds can be played through commands, and the mod also offers a play, stop, volume and pitch setup. Volume goes up to 2, and values above that have no effect. The pitch of a sound can be set, and the last played sound can be restarted. Stopping only affects sounds started through the mod's own command, and the stop scope follows where the sound was played.

A chat trigger can start a sound whenever a received chat message contains a chosen keyword. Messages sent by the player are exempt. The mod ships a config file for its options and a resource pack based setup for supplying sounds. Builds target 1.21.11 – 26.2 on Fabric, and the mod requires oωo (owo-lib) to run.

The latest Fabric file is 1.0.4+26.2 for 26.2, published on 2026-08-30. Files exist for 26.1.2 and 26.2 as well. The mod is client-side only, so servers do not need it, and it is licensed as All rights reserved, not open source.

Key features

  1. Client-side sound playback

Sounds start on the client, so players hear them without a server-side install or changes to the world.

  2. Volume and pitch control

A sound's volume can be set up to 2, and its pitch can be changed for a playback.

  3. Restart last sound

The most recently played sound can be started again with a single command.

  4. Chat-triggered sounds

A sound plays when an incoming chat message contains a set keyword, with player messages left out.

Use cases

Audio cues in chat

A group can attach a sound to a keyword so that a mention in chat produces an audible signal.

Resource pack testing

Sounds from a resource pack can be triggered directly to check how they play in the client.

Who it’s for: Players who want to trigger sounds from commands or chat keywords on their own client, and resource pack authors checking custom sounds. The mod needs oωo (owo-lib) and does nothing on a server.

Questions
