Client Block Pickup

by MatinAnceScribe

Client Block Pickup lets a player switch item pickup off with one key, so dropped items stop entering the inventory while the switch is set.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.21 – 1.21.11

What it does

The mod is a client-side utility for Fabric. Pressing P by default toggles block pickup on or off. Once pickup is off, the player no longer vacuums up nearby items, and items already in the inventory stay where they are, so a sorted hotbar remains intact during builds and farming.

Players can use it during large sorting jobs, clearing out a perimeter, or running an AFK farm where stray blocks would clutter the hotbar. Because it runs on the client only, servers do not need it and players can join without installing it. Files exist for 12 release versions, with 1.1 for 1.21.8 as the latest Fabric file. The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source.

Key features

  1. One-key pickup toggle

A single key press turns item pickup on or off, with P as the default binding.

  2. Existing items stay safe

Items already in the inventory are kept when pickup is switched off, so nothing is lost during a cleanup.

  3. Filtered intake

With pickup off, new dropped items are blocked from entering the inventory, while the hotbar stays as the player arranged it.

  4. Sneak-aware behavior

Extra items picked up while sneaking are ignored by the mod, which keeps the hotbar exactly as the player set it.

Use cases

Automated farms

Players running large AFK farms can keep drops from filling the hotbar with unwanted blocks.

Construction and sorting

Builders clearing an area or reorganizing storage can stop items from being collected mid-task.

Who it’s for: Players who build, sort or run farms in Fabric worlds and want control over which items enter their inventory. Survival and creative players on servers that do not run the mod can use it without any server-side change.
