Chixozhmix Revival lets a player bring back a dead friend in Hardcore play, using a Resurrection Altar and a Resurrection Catalyst.

What it does

Players who die in Hardcore mode are sent to Spectator mode. A friend in Spectator mode can be restored to survival through the Resurrection Altar, which works only on players nearby. The Resurrection Catalyst is used on the altar to perform the revival, and it is consumed in the process, so reviving someone takes a deliberate choice of resources.

Chixozhmix Revival was made for the Clash Epochs modpack, and its builds are meant for use within that pack. Its items do not come with crafting recipes, so a server owner or modpack maker has to add them, for example through CraftTweaker, and can decide how difficult a revival should be by setting those recipes.

Chixozhmix Revival runs on Forge 1.20.1 and needs the client and the server to both run it. The Forge file is published for 1.20.1 only, dated 2025-06-14, and the code is under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.

Key features

  1. Resurrection Altar

    A block that revives a player in Spectator mode, but only when the player using it is near the target.

  2. Resurrection Catalyst

    A consumable item that is required for the altar revival, and that does nothing when used anywhere else.

  3. Hardcore revival

    Players who have fallen into Spectator mode are restored to survival mode, letting Hardcore runs continue after a loss.

    The two items ship without crafting recipes, so the cost of a revival is set by whoever adds the recipes.
