Cheaper Clocks
by notblue
Cheaper Clocks changes the clock recipe so it takes three gold nuggets and one gold ingot in place of four gold ingots, using a data pack rather than new items.
What it does
The mod replaces the clock crafting recipe with a version that needs less gold. The clock is made from one gold ingot, redstone dust and three gold nuggets, which lowers the amount of gold a player must gather. The change is delivered as a data pack, so no new blocks or items are added and the rest of the game stays as it is.
Because the recipe is the only thing altered, the mod suits survival players who want clocks sooner and server owners who run a data pack list. It is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and as a data pack for server platforms, with files for 1.20 – 26.3. Server owners install it, and players can join with or without it.
The author publishes the pack under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license, which is not open source. Its terms allow others to modify and share the pack under stated conditions, and the source code and issue tracker are public. Snapshot builds are published as well.

How it compares
Cheaper Lantern Recipe is a server-side mod with All rights reserved licensing, published for 1.21.5 – 26.3, and it changes the lantern recipe rather than the clock. Iron Nugget Recycling and Gold Nugget Recycling are MIT licensed and not open source, covering 1.13 – 1.21.8, and they change how nuggets are recycled instead of crafting costs. Cheaper Clocks uses a data pack and the Creative Commons license, so it is not comparable in loaders for alternatives that include Forge and NeoForge files.
