ChatCalculator
by RicoBrase
ChatCalculator lets a player type a maths formula into the chat and receive the result in the same chat window, without leaving the game.
What it does
A chat message that begins with a single equals sign is treated as a formula. When the player presses Enter, the mod evaluates the expression and prints the answer in chat. Only the formula's result appears, and the calculation is shared with everyone in the multiplayer session when it is sent as a server-wide message.
Prefixing a chat message with a double equals sign sends a normal chat message that happens to start with a single equals sign, so ordinary text is still possible. Regular chat messages cannot begin with an equals sign unless the mod is installed, which is why the double prefix exists. Players who want to share a calculation with the whole server prefix the formula so the result is sent to everyone on it.
The mod runs on the Fabric and Forge loaders for Minecraft 1.20.1 only, and the files are released under the MIT License, so the code is open source. It is installed on the client and the server together: every player needs it, and so does the server, so that formulas can be evaluated and broadcast to others.
Key features
Inline maths in chat
Simple arithmetic typed after an equals sign in chat is calculated without a calculator or a command.
Server-wide results
A formula prefixed with a double equals sign sends its result to the whole server, so the group sees the same answer.
Plain messages preserved
A double equals sign at the start of a message keeps ordinary chat text beginning with a single equals sign intact.
Formula output in chat
The result is printed as the chat response, with the formula shown beside it, so the calculation stays in the conversation.

How it compares
Chat Math is a Fabric mod for 1.21.11 that is client-side only and released under the MIT License, so it works without any server install. chatqalc covers 1.20 – 1.20.4 on Fabric only and is client-side only, under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. MathChat is server-side only for 1.21.4 on Fabric, under the Apache License 2.0, and it is not open source. ChatCalculator, by contrast, needs both the client and the server, runs on Fabric and Forge for 1.20.1, and is open source under the MIT License.
