CC: Relative Routing

by tomtomato

CC: Relative Routing lets ComputerCraft programs call peripherals by their position relative to a router rather than by peripheral ID or name.

NeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.21.1

What it does

The mod adds two ComputerCraft peripherals. A Redstone Router Peripheral Router is placed next to a computer and connected to it, and a computer can then reach other blocks around the router by relative direction and offset. Using the Target Wand on a block prints its offset as a Lua line in chat, so the coordinates do not need to be counted by hand.

Because programs refer to positions instead of peripheral IDs, a program written for one build can be moved to another layout with fewer edits. The router also sends signals to specific block faces (north, south, east, west, up, down) and can wrap nearby CC-compatible peripherals. Installation requires CC: Tweaked, the mod is published for NeoForge only, for 1.21.1, and runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. The code is not open source; it is licensed as All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Relative peripheral calls

Peripherals are addressed by their offset from a router, not by an ID or a side, so the same code works wherever the router is placed.

  2. Block face signalling

The router sends a redstone signal to a chosen face of a target block without running wire to it.

  3. Target Wand coordinate printing

Right-clicking a block prints its relative coordinates and a Lua line to chat, replacing manual counting.

  4. Peripheral Router detection

A Peripheral Router reports what peripheral sits at each position it targets, and can wrap nearby peripherals for use by the connected computer.

Yes. CC: Tweaked is a required dependency, and the mod cannot run without it on NeoForge for 1.21.1.

Does the server need the mod?

Yes. The server and every player need the mod installed.

How are relative coordinates obtained?

Right-click a block with the Target Wand and the offset is printed to chat as a Lua line that can be copied into a program.
