Create: Railway Additions

by tomtomato

Create: Railway Additions gives train tracks posted speed limit signs that cap how fast automatic trains may travel on NeoForge 1.21.1, with Create required.

NeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.21.1

What it does

Working speed limit signs cap the speed of automatic trains. A train reads the sign and must begin braking early enough to reach the posted limit by the time it arrives at the sign. A posted limit stays in force until a later sign replaces it, and a train picks its speed back up only once it is past the restricted stretch.

Trains can run past the mod's configured ceiling of 300 km/h as set in its config, with a default maxSpeedLimit of 300 km/h. Separate settings let speeds be tuned independently of Create's trainTopSpeed and its train acceleration field, which still apply to every train. Temporary signs can be placed so they suspend the current limit rather than overwrite it, and a temporary limit end sign hands back whatever limit applied before. An advance warning indicator warns trains of a restriction ahead, and an optional whistle sounds 30 blocks out.

Create: Railway Additions requires Create and is built for NeoForge 1.21.1 only. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. The code is not open source, and the mod is released under All rights reserved. Files are published for NeoForge 1.21.1, with 1.2.1 for 1.21.1 as the latest file, dated 2026-08-19.

Key features

  1. Speed limit signs

Signs cap the speed of automatic trains, and a train must brake early enough to reach the posted limit in time.

  2. Temporary limits

A temporary limit sign sets the current limit aside, and a temporary limit end sign restores the earlier one.

  3. Advance warning

An indicator warns an approaching train of a restriction ahead, and an optional whistle sounds 30 blocks before the sign.

  4. Placement and signage

A sign's placement and click decide how it applies, and signage alone affects only trains.

What the author says

Post a speed limit and your trains obey it braking in advance, holding the limit through the restricted stretch, and picking their speed back up when it ends. All five are placed the same way as Create's Train Signals: right-click the piece of track the sign applies to, then place the sign anywhere within 16 blocks…
