Caverns & Chasms: Ingot Compat

by atobaazul

Caverns & Chasms: Ingot Compat lets placeable ingot blocks from Caverns & Chasms work with a set of other mods that add their own ingots.

ForgeClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.20.1

What it does

Caverns & Chasms can place ingots as blocks, but some other mods add ingots that did not get a block form. This Forge mod adds placeable versions of those ingots for Iron's Spellbooks, Tinker's Construct, Create Crafts Additions, Born Chaos, Samurai Dynasty and Immersive Engineering. The author lists the ingots that are not covered by this approach, because some do not translate well into block form.

Blueprint, Caverns & Chasms and Moonlight Lib are required. The mod is for Forge 1.20.1 only and runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. It is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later and is open source, with the source code publicly available. The first release was on 2026-04-01, and the latest file, 1.3.0, followed on 2026-10-14.

Key features

  1. Placeable ingots

Ingots from supported mods can be placed as blocks, using the same block-generation approach as the base Caverns & Chasms mod.

  2. Block and item textures

The default generated textures cover block forms of most ingots, while the item textures stay the same as the source mod.

  3. Custom texture support

A resource pack can replace the generated textures, with files placed in the cc_compat textures folder for the block form.

  4. Issue tracking

The project accepts suggestions and bug reports through its GitHub issues, for adding further ingot support.

Questions

Does Caverns & Chasms: Ingot Compat need Caverns & Chasms?

Yes. Caverns & Chasms is a required dependency, together with Blueprint and Moonlight Lib. All three must be installed on Forge 1.20.1.

Do servers need this mod installed?

Yes. The server and every player need the mod installed.

Why are some ingots missing block forms?

The author notes that some ingots do not translate well into block form, so the mod covers most ingots but not all.

Can the block textures be changed?

Yes. A resource pack can supply custom textures, using the base Caverns & Chasms textures as a reference.
