Caligo expands cave exploration with new mobs, blocks and a statue mechanic tied to death in caves, for Fabric and Quilt.
What it does
The mod adds several new mobs and blocks to underground areas, aimed at refreshing the experience of cave diving. New creatures are placed in caves, so exploring underground gives players encounters they would not find in vanilla terrain. Caligo also expands features that already exist in the mod's own design, and the alpha builds have received a steady set of additions.
Dying in a cave while affected by the petrified effect turns the player into a statue. The statue holds the items and experience lost in the death, and breaking it drops them back on the ground, so the loss is recoverable. Caligo is open source under the MIT License and runs on the client and the server together, so both sides need it. Its required dependencies are Fabric API and TerraBlender, and files are published for Fabric and Quilt across 11 release versions, 1.19.4 – 1.21.5.
