Buff Mobs

by Khotyz

With Buff Mobs installed on a server, hostile and neutral mobs gain higher health, damage, speed and armor, with each value set separately in the in-game screen.

What it does

Buff Mobs changes the attributes of mobs in a world: health, attack damage, attack speed and armor can each be raised or lowered on its own. Settings are changed through an in-game configuration screen built with Cloth Config API, which is required, and Mod Menu can open that screen from the mods list. Ranged mobs such as skeletons and pillagers can switch to melee weapons when players come close, and players receive weapons as well.

The mod suits survival worlds, modpacks and servers that want harder fights. Multipliers can differ by dimension, so the Nether can be made much harder than the Overworld, and up to five dimension slots can be set. An optional day-based scale raises mob strength as the world ages, and trigger distance and weapon quality can be tuned. The server has to run the changes, while players may add the mod for the settings screen.

Buff Mobs runs on Fabric and NeoForge for 1.21.1 and the 26 versions, and the latest files target 26.3. It is open source under the MIT License, and public links to source code, an issue tracker and a wiki are available.

Key features

  1. Per-attribute multipliers

Health, attack damage, attack speed and armor each have their own multiplier, so a mob can be tougher without changing every value.

  2. Dimension-specific settings

Separate multipliers can be set for each dimension, including modded ones, with up to five configurable dimension slots.

  3. Day-based scaling

An optional setting increases mob strength as in-game days pass, so late-game encounters grow harder over time.

  4. Weapon switching and gear

Skeletons, pillagers and similar mobs switch to melee weapons up close, and weapons with enchantments are generated by difficulty and dimension.
