Brittle Bedrock
by codehead
Brittle Bedrock lets a player weaken bedrock by placing a custom Dense TNT item against it, with each placement triggering an explosion.
What it does
Dense TNT is a crafted item made from 9 normal TNT, and it is the only TNT that affects bedrock in this mod. When placed against a bedrock block, it primes into an instant explosion and the bedrock is replaced with obsidian. Normal TNT placed in the same spot behaves as usual, so the custom behaviour depends on the item's data component.
The placement logic is driven by an advancement that raycasts from the player's head to find the newly placed TNT block, reaching up to 5 blocks in 0.1 block steps with a maximum of 50 steps. If the custom data component is lost, for example by breaking the block and picking it up again, the item reverts to normal TNT. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and the server is the side that needs it, so clients may leave it out.
The mod is released under CC0 1.0 Universal, which places it in the public domain, and the source code and issue tracker are public. Files are published for 1.21.5 – 26.2 across 11 release versions, with 1.0.2+mod for 26.2 as the latest file. It was first published on 2025-06-27 and last updated on 2026-07-04.
