Breathing World: Dungeons
by Diavig
Breathing World: Dungeons changes deep caves with air limits, enriched stone, dust and collapsing tunnels, and it is published for Forge and NeoForge.
What it does
Small details make caves more dynamic. A player who goes deep without air loses breath and can die. A player fills an empty bottle with air by holding it in the off hand and right-clicking on the surface, and a moss paper mask keeps that air from running out as quickly. Crafting a moss mask takes four pieces of paper and one block of moss paper, and the mask has to be made again when it nearly breaks.
Caves also gain dust as the player descends, adapting the environment. Digging a tunnel with stone carries a chance that the tunnel collapses. Some caves hold enriched stone that drops iron and gold nuggets, or enriched deepslate that drops lapis lazuli and diamond fragments. Rotten flesh and bones make a miner's soup that can be eaten without leaving the cave, and caves can hold stone and deepslate with traces of ore but no ore itself. The air, dust, collapse, enriched and ore features can each be switched off in the mod's config.
The mod is distributed under the MIT License and is not open source. Files exist for 1.20.1, 1.21.1 and 1.21.4, with Forge builds and NeoForge builds. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod.
Key features
Air supply underground
Going deep without air drains breath, and a player dies when the air runs out.
Moss paper masks
Masks extend the air a player has left and can be refilled with a bottle of air at the surface.
Cave dust and tunnel collapse
Dust appears as the player descends, and digging through stone can collapse the tunnel.
Enriched stone and ore traces
Enriched stone and deepslate drop extra materials, and some stone shows ore traces without ore.
