Blockabulary
Players who want to memorize vocabulary in-game can use Blockabulary, a Fabric client mod that reads question and answer pairs from a text file.
What it does
Blockabulary lets a player learn vocabulary while playing. The player writes a plain text file of questions and answers, places it in the config folder of the mods directory, and starts Minecraft with the mod installed to join a world. Each question appears in the game, and the player can type the answer or choose to say they do not know it. The file takes any question and answer the player wants, including emojis, semicolons and other special letters.
The format is strict. Each question sits on one line, the answer on the next, and an empty line separates one pair from the next. Answers containing quotation marks or special letters and spaces need care, because a section sign acts as a formatting code and can break the reading of the file. If the file cannot be read, the mod reports trouble. Before the first run, the player needs to start the game once without the mod so the config folder is generated, and a .json file is written from the vocabulary text file after the player saves, deletes or renames it.
The mod is client-side only, so players install it alone and servers do not need it. It is published for Fabric and needs Fabric API, and files cover 1.20.1 only. Blockabulary is not open source: it is released under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license, and the source code is public.
