NoPlacingTorch

by Lokirit

NoPlacingTorch stops torches and lanterns from being placed by a right click while the player holds them in the spare hand.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient or server, optionalAll rights reserved1.18.2 – 26.2

What it does

When a torch, soul torch or lantern is held in the offhand slot, a right click no longer places it in the world. The mod covers the standard torch and lantern items, so the block stays in the inventory until the player chooses to place it. A config file in the root folder, named player blocklist.json, lets a player list items that should keep their normal placing behavior. Fabric API is required, and the mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge.

Key features

  1. Offhand torches stay put

A right click with a torch or soul torch in the spare hand does not place a block.

  2. Soul torch and lantern

Soul torches and lanterns are covered by the same rule as standard torches.

  3. Configurable item list

The player blocklist file lets players choose which items the rule applies to.

Questions

Does NoPlacingTorch need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is required, so it must be installed next to the mod on Fabric.

Does NoPlacingTorch have to be installed on the server?

No. It works on either side, and neither needs it, so installing it on one side is enough.
