Block Entity Wrench
by pitan76
Block Entity Wrench lets a wrench pick up, rotate and save the data of blocks and block entities, with options set in its configuration.
What it does
The wrench works on blocks in a Minecraft world. Using it can rotate a block, break it, or store its block entity data so the data returns when the block is placed again. Each of these actions has its own toggle, so a server owner can keep only the behavior the world needs. Rotation of entities is a separate option and is marked experimental.
A blacklist controls which blocks the wrench cannot break; beds are included in the default list. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 25 release versions, 1.18 – 26.2. Installation needs Fabric API on Fabric and MCPitanLib on every loader, and it runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. The code is released under the CC0 1.0 Universal license, which makes it open source, and the source code and issue tracker are public.
Key features
Block rotation
A toggle enables or disables rotating blocks with the wrench, so server owners can switch the action off.
Block breaking
Another toggle controls whether the wrench can break blocks, independent of the rotation setting.
Saved block entity data
Block entity data can be stored by the wrench and restored when the block is placed again.
Blacklisted blocks
A list of blocks the wrench cannot break can be set, and beds are included by default.
Entity rotation
An experimental option lets the wrench rotate entities, and it can be turned off in the configuration.

Use cases
Moving machines between builds
Saved block entity data lets a player pick up a machine with the wrench and place it again with its contents intact.
Protecting key blocks on a server
Server owners can keep the wrench from breaking selected blocks by adding them to the blacklist.
Who it’s for: Players who move or rearrange machines and storage, and server owners who want to limit what a wrench can do.
