BetterTimer
by EinFabo
BetterTimer shows a running clock above the hotbar for players tracking challenges, speedruns or timed activities, and changes its color as the timer runs, pauses or resets.
What it does
A timer sits above the hotbar and stays visible without taking much room on screen. Its display is minimal: units with a value of zero are hidden, so a timer at one hour and five seconds reads without any day or minute part. Text color signals state, with white for a running timer and yellow for a paused one. The normal paused state colors can be changed in the settings.
The mod is aimed at players who keep time during challenges, speedruns and other timed play sessions, and it reads as a simple counter rather than a full statistics tool. Hex codes give exact control over colors, and eight ready-made choices cover common needs. Installation needs Fabric API, and Mod Menu is optional for opening the settings screen. The mod runs on Fabric only, for Minecraft 1.21.4 – 1.21.10, and it is client-side only, so servers do not need it. The code is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved.
Key features
Minimal HUD timer
A clean timer above the hotbar that stays readable without covering the main play area.
Smart time formatting
Days, hours, minutes and seconds appear only when non-zero, so short timers stay compact.
Color-coded state
Running and paused states use separate colors, and the paused colors can be adjusted.
Hex and preset colors
Exact colors can be entered as hex codes, or chosen from eight built-in presets.
