BetterRailwaySystem
by hjy-233
BetterRailwaySystem changes how vanilla minecarts move on rails without replacing the rail network, adding stations, stops and line tools to it.
What it does
The mod builds on the vanilla minecart entity and the vanilla track network, so existing rails, powered rails, detector rails and activator rails keep working and redstone behaves as before. Its rail-side blocks handle operational events: a railway balise triggers actions as a minecart passes, a stop rail block gives precise station stopping, a train spawner places minecarts on existing rails, and a train collector acts as an end-of-line recovery point.
Physics and handling are adjusted as well, with smooth acceleration on powered rails in place of an instant jump to top speed. Players can record world lines, view line maps on board and in a world railway map, and manage custom balise media through an in-game library. Configuration is handled in-game through commands. The mod is a Fabric mod that needs Cloth Config API and Fabric API, with Mod Menu as an optional addition. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. It is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and its files cover 1.20 – 1.21.11 with 1.21.11 as the latest build.
Key features
Vanilla rail compatibility
Vanilla rails, powered rails, detector rails and activator rails keep their behavior alongside the mod's blocks.
Railway balise and stop blocks
A balise triggers events as trains pass, and a stop rail block halts a minecart at a chosen station position.
Train spawner and collector
A spawner places minecarts on existing rails, and a collector recovers them at the end of a line.
Line recording and maps
Lines can be recorded in the world and shown on onboard maps or a world railway map view.
In-game configuration
Settings, balise assets and media are managed through commands and an in-game library screen.
