Better Pets adds collectible pets that follow the player through adventures, each with its own abilities, rarity and level.

What it does

Pets in Better Pets are companions that the player gathers and keeps. Each pet has a unique ability that can help in certain situations, and higher rarity pets carry more abilities. Active pets gain experience and level up, and higher levels make their abilities stronger. Ancient pets are hidden in treasure chests scattered across the world, so finding them is part of exploring.

The mod is built for survival and adventure play, and it works in multiplayer. A pet menu lists the pets a player has collected and lets them spawn one, and the in-game wiki, opened through a trigger, describes each pet. Visibility can be toggled so a tired pet stops following. The server must run the mod, while a client may leave it out. Invisible Minecarts is an optional dependency that adds vanilla-friendly minecart support.

Better Pets is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and as a data pack for server platforms. Files cover 1.20.2 – 26.3 across 19 release versions, with v4.3.6+mod for 26.3 as the latest file. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.
