BetterDirectConnect

by JanCantCode

BetterDirectConnect keeps a history of the servers a player has joined, so the Direct Connect screen can reconnect to any of them in one click.

FabricClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.21.11 – 26.1.2

What it does

Each time a player connects through Direct Connect, the server is saved to a list shown most recent first, with its address and, where available, the server favicon beside the entry. Clicking an entry reconnects at once, without retyping the address. The history survives game restarts, and the number of remembered servers can be capped in the settings.

The screen is a small client-side change to the vanilla Direct Connect menu, and it is the only side that needs the mod. Players can move the panel by setting its X and Y position, and adjust its width and row height. The mod is published only for Fabric, for four release versions 1.21.11 – 26.1.2, with 1.0.0+26.1 for 26.1.2 as the latest file. It is released under All rights reserved, so the code is not open source.

Key features

  1. Server history list

Recently joined servers are stored and listed on the Direct Connect screen, most recent first.

  2. One-click rejoin

Selecting a saved entry connects straight away, so the address does not have to be typed again.

  3. Favicons for remembered servers

Each saved server shows its icon next to the entry when the server provides one.

  4. Adjustable panel layout

The history panel's X and Y position, width and row height can each be changed in the settings.

  5. Persistent history with a cap

The list is kept across restarts, and a maximum number of remembered servers limits how many entries are stored.

Use cases

Returning to frequent servers

A player who moves between a few multiplayer servers can reconnect from the list instead of keeping the addresses somewhere else.

Who it’s for: Players who join multiplayer servers by address through Direct Connect and want a short, compact list of the places they have been.
