Better Saved Tabs
by rhm176.
Better Saved Tabs changes how the saved tab menu in creative mode behaves, adding to the tab list that players already use to store item selections.
What it does
The mod works on the creative inventory's saved tabs, the menu where a player keeps hotbar layouts for later. It is a client-side mod, so only the player's game needs it and a server runs without it. Builds exist for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, covering game versions 1.20 – 1.21.4 across twelve release versions.
The latest file, 0.1.0+1.21.1 for 1.21.4, was published on 2024-11-09, the same day as the first release. The source code is public under the MIT License, so the code can be read, changed and reused, and the project keeps a public issue tracker for bug reports. No dependencies are listed, so installing a loader and the mod file is enough.
Key features
Enhanced saved tab menu
The creative saved tab menu gains extra behavior for managing the saved tabs it already shows.
Saved tab management
Players can work with the saved hotbar layouts stored in creative mode through the same menu they already use.
Quick access to layouts
Saved tabs stay one click away in the creative inventory, so switching between stored item selections takes less effort.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.

Use cases
Creative builders
Players who keep many saved hotbar layouts in creative mode can work through the saved tab menu with the added options.
Who it’s for: Creative-mode players who switch between many saved hotbar layouts and want more control over the saved tab menu. The mod is not needed by server owners, since the environment is client-side only.
How it compares
Creative Tabs + is client-side only and open source under the MIT License, with files for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, so it covers older builds than Better Saved Tabs. Recreative is open source under the MIT License and supports 1.20.1 – 26.2, but it is client and server, so the server needs it too. EMI Tabs is client-side only and open source, and it targets only 1.21.1 on Fabric and NeoForge.
