Better Resolution
by Warma
Better Resolution lowers the internal render resolution of the 3D world and rebuilds the image to the display size, which can raise frame rates on weaker GPUs.
What it does
The mod renders the world at a selected internal resolution and then reconstructs it to the display resolution, while the interface stays at native sharpness. Lower scales give more performance, and higher scales give a sharper render. Presets are available, and a manual scale slider can be used instead once manual mode is enabled.
Two upscaling methods are included. Smooth applies a lightweight edge-aware reconstruction that reduces harsh aliasing and pixelation. Sharp applies smart sharpening for a crisper image. The mod requires Fabric API and works alongside Sodium, whose Video Settings expose its controls. It is a client-side Fabric mod, released under All rights reserved and not open source, with files for 1.21.1, 1.21.4, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3. Snapshot builds are not mentioned by the author.
Key features
Internal resolution scaling
The 3D world is rendered at a chosen internal resolution, then reconstructed to the display size.
Two upscaling methods
Smooth reduces aliasing and line instability, while Sharp keeps the image crisp with sharpening.
Presets and manual slider
Built-in presets are available, and a scale slider sets the internal resolution by hand.
Shader performance
Lowering world render resolution reduces the cost of shader rendering, so higher shader settings run on weaker GPUs.
Sodium integration
Controls appear in Sodium's Video Settings, and the interface remains at native resolution.

How it compares
FSR Reloaded is open source under the MIT License, client-side only, and built for Fabric 1.21.11 – 26.2, so its version range overlaps only partly with this mod. Polypheides Resolution Scaler is also open source and client-side only, under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and targets 26.2 – 26.3. RenderScale is open source under the MIT License and supports Fabric, Forge and NeoForge 1.20.1 – 26.3, the widest range of the three.

What the author says
Better Resolution improves GPU performance by rendering Minecraft’s 3D world at a configurable internal resolution, then back to native resolution using smart and lightweight algorithms. It is both higher quality and higher performance than alternatives. It was created because I had a personal gripe with how…
