Better Horses adds chests to tamed horses, dual riding, and speed controls for sprinting and slow movement on vanilla horses.
What it does
A tamed horse can take a chest when a player right-clicks it with one, the same way donkeys and mules already work, which expands its storage. Dual riding lets a second player mount the same horse, so two players can travel together. Sprint and slow modes are toggled with keys: CTRL turns sprinting off while riding, and R switches a slower pace that suits scenic exploring.
The mod is meant to make horses more useful and customizable while keeping the feel of vanilla riding. A common config file holds the settings for how the mod behaves, so server owners and players can adjust speed, chests and dual riding to their preferences. Better Horses requires Common Network and Forge Config API Port, and it runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, all for 1.21.1, under the MIT License, and the project is not open source.
