Better Carpet Bots

by my-daarlin

Better Carpet Bots extends the bot commands of the Carpet mod, letting a server operator spawn, control and manage bots with more options and survival rules.

FabricServer required, client optionalMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.11 – 26.2

What it does

Better Carpet Bots gives server operators a bot command for spawning and managing bots in survival mode. Each bot receives a name automatically, such as Bot1 or Bot2, and a custom name may be chosen instead. Names must be 1 to 16 characters long and use only letters, digits and underscores. A name that belongs to a real player who has ever joined the server cannot be used.

A player can control a bot directly through its screen, and targeting the bot by its own name works as well. The screen stays live, and items the bot picks up appear in it immediately. The screen closes on its own once the player moves more than 10 blocks away. The inventory is laid out in rows 0 to 3 for the main inventory and hotbar, with row 4 for armor and off-hand slots. Armor slots only accept the matching armor type, and empty armor or off-hand slots are marked with labels drawn on colored glass panes. Filler slots are locked.

The command needs game-master permission level 2. The mod is server required, while the client is optional. It targets Minecraft 26.2 with Fabric Loader 0.18.4, and the Fabric file is 1.3.1, published on 2026-09-19. The code is under the MIT License and is open source.

Key features

  1. Bot spawning

A bot spawns at a chosen position and runs in survival mode, so it behaves like a regular player.

  2. Automatic and custom names

Bots receive generated names by default, and operators can assign a name that follows the stated length and character rules.

  3. Direct bot control

An operator can open a bot's screen and manage its inventory while the bot is active.

  4. Protected names

A player who authenticates through Mojang and joins once locks their name, which stops bots from using it.

  5. Existing bot data backup

Bot data saved under an old offline-UUID name is copied to a backup folder before it is cleaned up.

What the author says

A Carpet mod extension that adds better bot management commands to your Minecraft server. Spawns a bot at your position in survival mode. If no name is given, one is auto-generated (Bot1, Bot2, …). Names must be 1–16 characters, letters/digits/underscores only.
