Better Beaches
by Zcoper
Better Beaches, a Forge mod by Zcoper, turns beach biomes into more populated and more dangerous places with new plants, blocks and creatures.
What it does
Palm trees, rock formations and shells are added to beaches, along with decorative blocks, plants and plastic trash. The mod also brings hostile cannibal tribes, a heat mechanic in deserts and badlands, stormy water and ocean-related items, so beaches feel more alive but carry survival risks, especially at night. It requires Geckolib, which has to be installed alongside it.
Karma is a hidden survival meter, shown as a skull icon in the inventory, that climbs when a player kills animals, harms villagers, starves or hurts themselves. Higher levels bring unsettling warnings, a changing skull icon and stronger cannibal variants. Surviving storms and nighttime slowly increases Karma, and the Karma Totem or a command resets it. The environment is client and server, so the server and every player need the mod, and the code is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved.
Key features
Palm trees and beach plants
Palm trees, rock formations, shells and new vegetation are placed in beach biomes, with decorative blocks to match.
Heat on sand and badlands
Players standing in direct noon sunlight build up heat, which causes sweating, nausea and short-term damage. Stay under solid blocks or water, or eat popsicles to cool down.
Karma survival system
A hidden Karma value with six levels and a maximum of 100 points changes beaches over time, shown as a skull icon in the inventory.
Adjustable game rules
Gamerules enableHeat, enableStormyWaters, enableCannibals and enableOceanTrash switch the heat, storms, cannibals and ocean trash off individually.
