Beginner's Delight

by ksoichiro

Beginner's Delight gives every new world a furnished shelter at spawn, stocked with supplies for a first night in survival.

What it does

When a new world is created, the mod generates a cozy starter shelter at spawn. Several house variants are picked at random, so worlds vary in layout, and the placement adjusts to the local terrain surface. Each house is built from vanilla blocks only, and some designs hold more than one chest or barrel, with the starter items in one of them and extra supplies such as coal, oak planks, torches and wheat seeds in the rest.

Beginner's Delight depends on Fabric API for Fabric installs, while Forge and NeoForge builds run without it. The mod is client and server, so both the server and every player need it. It is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and its source code is open source on GitHub, where bug reports are also filed. Files cover 1.16.5 – 26.3, with 0.8.1 as the latest release on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge.

Key features

  1. Automatic starter house

Creating a world places a compact timber shelter on the spawn point, giving the player cover right away.

  2. Starter supplies

Beds, chests and barrels hold starter items and torches, which help a new player light the area and get through the first night.

  3. Randomized designs

Several house variants are chosen at random, and placement adjusts to the surrounding terrain surface.

  4. Data pack templates

Starter-house templates can be added, removed, replaced or weighted with a data pack, and loot is controlled per template.

  5. Village mode

The same template pool is used for player houses in Village Mode, which is included in the mod.
