Beam Blocks

by OpenBlock’s Team

Beam Blocks adds a set of structural beam blocks for building floors, ceilings and pillars, with a wood palette that covers pale birch, deep dark oak, cherry and bamboo.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.21.8

What it does

The mod adds a beams world for builders who need support that vanilla fences and walls do not give. Beams are cut to align on the block grid, so horizontal supports, vertical pillars and ceiling frameworks line up without offsets. Its smart placement helps the blocks snap into the right orientation as they are set down.

Each wood type comes with its own beam variant, covering the common oak and spruce family as well as pale birch, deep dark oak, cherry and bamboo. The textures follow vanilla patterns, so they stay consistent in 32x and 64x resource packs. Beam Blocks is built to keep frame-heavy builds such as medieval halls, underground mines and industrial zones from slowing the game.

Files exist for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. The client and server environment means both the server and every player need the mod. Game versions run 1.20.1 – 1.21.8, with the latest 1.0.1 file for 1.21.8 on Fabric and NeoForge and for 1.20.1 on Forge. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Beam variants per wood

Beam blocks are added for each wood type, including birch, dark oak, cherry and bamboo.

  2. Grid-aligned placement

Beams snap to the block grid, so supports and pillars line up cleanly in tight layouts.

  3. Vanilla-matched textures

Textures follow vanilla patterns and remain consistent when a resource pack replaces them.

  4. Support for floating blocks

Beams give floors and ceilings a visible structure, a layer vanilla fences and walls cannot supply.

Use cases

Medieval halls and mines

Long beams and pillars let builders frame large halls and underground passages.

Industrial zones

Dense beam layouts can be placed in factory and warehouse builds without a heavy performance cost.

Who it’s for: Builders working in survival or creative worlds who want structural detail for ceilings, floors and large interiors.

Questions

Does Beam Blocks need to be installed on the server?

Yes. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.

Which loaders does Beam Blocks support?

Fabric, Forge and NeoForge all have files, and the latest file for each is 1.0.1.

Are the beams compatible with resource packs?

The textures follow vanilla patterns, so they work with 32x and 64x resource packs.
